| To cover this topic correctly, we need to look at
all propeller manufacturers worldwide and issues they have with product
support. We can break them into two major groups:
- Companies that design and build in house as
well as repair all makes of propellers.
- Companies that only repair all makes of
propellers (this group is by far the largest in number and has been
created by the introduction of Propeller Scan technology.
The two above groups can be broken down further
into two:
- Companies with propeller scan technology
- Companies that rely on old methods such as
pitch gauges (stick and bubble) or pitch plates.
There are two main designs of propeller scans used
worldwide:
- Hale MRI which is designed by Randy Hale of the
USA.
- Prop Scan which is designed by Terry Ryan in
Australia.
Henleys is proud to say that it was one of the
first companies in the world to use the Prop Scan technology 15 years
ago. Some of the advantages of using the computerized
Prop Scan can be seen by
following this link.
The units are growing in distribution worldwide
and enable the user to repair all makes and designs of propellers to
meet ISO484/2 international standard of tolerance. In looking at Hale
and Prop Scan there are approximately 56 repair shops on the East Coast
of the United States alone that can repair or adjust our designs. These
equipment allows for a propeller manufacturer anywhere in the World to
talk the same language to a repair facility and achieve a 100% result
should a propeller require adjustment or repair.
Henleys have no affiliation with Hale or Prop
Scan, meaning we recommend both groups as qualified repairers of our
designs. Our company is not into large production runs - we are a relatively small group that has built up a reputation
since 1917 for
producing high quality product that gives the best possible results in
smoothness, fuel efficiency, speed and maneuverability. We target
ourselves to be the "Rolla" of the South Pacific and as such
receive recommendations from highly qualified Designers worldwide.
